Projects and Consultations:
  • Supervising the development of the UAE University Libraries into E-Library system between 2000 - 2001 as well as uploading the databases indexes of library references to and promoting the accessibility of these sources on the web. By doing so, I was the first to build an e-library across the UAE libraries.
  • Implemented a project to establish 5 public libraries in the UAE which are all attached to the Ministry of Information where we used the edge-cutting technologies. I was the first to use the RFID applications technology in libraries all over the Arab world. During the implementation of the project, I regarded myself in my homeland’s call for duty.
  • Oversaw the development of library of the Faculty of Islamic Studies in Dubai to be an academic library that contributes to the academic accreditation process.
  • Oversaw the establishment of a library for the Culture and Science Symposium in Dubai to be a specialized library for intellectuals.
  • This is in addition to other contributions in developing dozens of libraries across the UAE, Qatar and Oman.
  • Due to my status as the only one who holds a doctoral degree in library and information science all over the United Arab Emirates between 2000 and 2011, I volunteered for national service in the following:
  1. Submitted a proposal for the establishment of a UAE National Library. Noteworthy, the United Arab Emirates has not until now a national library with the customary form known worldwide. Actually, I was prevented from implementing this project.
  2. Submitted a proposal to build a national bibliography to support researchers and national publishing due to the fact that the UAE is the only state until now which hasn’t its own bibliography of scientific products. Also, I was prohibited from the implementation of this project.
  3. Submitted a proposal to create a national network of all university, public, school and specialized libraries that serves scientific research everywhere in the Emirates, but I was also hindered from implementing this project.
  4. Submitted a proposal to create a department for teaching of sciences of libraries and archiving in our universities because our country so far has not such a department that teaches this science. I was also prohibited from the implementation of this project.
  5. Submitted a proposal for establishing a management and distribution systems for the government publications which are not collected under unified databank and really scattered nationwide; the matter which overburdens the researchers with additional efforts. The same reaction repeated against me which is prohibition from the implementation of the project.
  6. I, and some of my colleagues who are specialized in the science of libraries, endeavored to register of an association of libraries and archives which should work on developing the profession inside the UAE. The request for establishing this legitimate association faced a rejection along the past ten years until now.
